Menteşe is Muğla's own center, but the atmosphere here reads small-town charm rather than big-city bustle: whitewashed houses, those famous chimneys, tea glasses clinking away inside the old market. University students bring some life to the streets each evening, and you end up folded into it too. The catch is that every street here pulls you toward something different — the historic quarter has its own appeal, the highland side its own cool air. You can't answer every pull individually. That's what the dice is for: roll it, use whatever comes up as your excuse, and get out the door.
